365 day 159 I could complain... | Calgary photographer

I could... I could tell you all about how my kids went CRAZY at grandma's tonight. I could go on and on over Kade hucking her corn to the floor when she was done, getting lotion over grandma's walls, trying to steak Ro's food. I could go on about Ro having to go to time out during dinner. I could say I was so mad at them I just said it's time to go and tell you the craziness of our hasty exit - leaving my MIL's perfectly spotless house a disaster.

And then I could REALLY whine about how long it took to get them in the car because they were outside running around and wouldn't get in the car.

However.... today I am going to say I am so glad my kids were misbehaving. I am glad it took those extra minutes to get in the car. Because all their craziness... all their misbehaving.... all the anger I was feeling was gone in an insant.

When I hit downtown Okotoks we got passed by a couple fire trucks. OK.... kids were excited to see fire trucks no big deal. As we got closer and closer to the edge of town more kept coming. Ambulances and police. I actually pulled right over to the shoulder as did a lot of other cars to let them all through. As we got to the top of the hill... I saw why.
Thank goodness my kids took so long. As selfish as that sounds. I can not even begin to imagine how the accident happened. I mean the roads are clear, the weather is great - but clearly something went wrong.
I just am glad we weren't involved, didn't see it happen... and that there were responders there. I do not handle any injury well... and this well... this was bad.
We actually had to park for a bit while people got out and started to help. It took a while to realize this big huddle of people were working on someone laying on the side of the road. The car that was up against the fence of the farmer's field... CRUSHED. Like a tin can. I left there crying.

So instead of complaining, instead of whining.... I am going to say that I am happy that my kids are safely tucked in to their beds. EVEN though Kade spilled milk all over our microfibre couches that do not BEAD when liquid hits them like the salesguy told us! (It soaks right in.... nice!) I am so thankful that we were not involved, that we did not see it happen. Thankful that the right people got there when they did.
And I hope that everyone involved comes out of it ok.

It is one thing to see accidents on the news, movies, or even in passing on the highway. This one we had to park right there. Up close. When the first people there to help had gotten there. It was very personal... very intense. I hope everyone involved is ok.

On a positive note - Dion did his first curbing job today!!! Can NOT wait to take pictures of it tomorrow!

The mad scientist at work..... he was mixing the colors trying to see what other colors he could make.

He was totally in to it - this was before all the mayhem lol.

365 day 158 SOCCER MONSTERS | Calgary children's photographer

Wahoooooo it's soccer time!!!! Ro has definately traded in falling asleep with makeup on, Kade's clothes and love of the color pink for wanting to sleep in shin pads and HUGE socks and counting the days down till his next soccer day. Let me tell you.... watching a bunch of kids 'play' soccer is one of the FUNNIEST things ever. From running the wrong way, tripping your players, scoring on the wrong net, watching the ball go past them but not move an inch... and to see the HUGE smiles, the proud faces and the crazy amount of fun that can be had. It was a total blast. As my sister said... you could just DIE from the cuteness!!!!

We had a really great day... first up soccer. Thank goodness for sisters. I didn't get a chance to get Ro's shin pads and she bought a pair for me! Ro is the type of kids that would notice if he was the only one not wearing them and be sure to freak - so she really saved us.

Next up.... Kade's complete and utter meltdown. Which resulted in a very long drawn out struggle to get her in the car with a bunch of kids staring at us... thanks for the times Kade. I KNEW she had to go to the bathroom (usually the cause of her meltdowns...) so I was not schocked when about 5 seconds after I finally got her belted in she peed. Which ended my plans of running to DQ for ice cream.
Or so I thought....... the kids really wanted to spend time with Grandma AND ice cream. So I grabbed the double stroller and the dogs and walked the kids down to DQ to meet up with grandma (she went and ran some errands while we walked).  Where the kids had absolutely NO fun ;)

I am sure you all can imagine what her face looks like. Wow she is a force to be reckoned with.

So he is TOTALLY cracking up... he can not believe what Kade is doing RIGHT now.

She's such a little lady. Not really.

Man I love this boy. Trust me... to get this pic was hard - but worth it :)
and then... I pushed them both all the way back up the hill to our house... BOTH of them. Plus had the dogs. Ooooooh my legs are feelin the burn!!!
And the last stop of the day.... to my sisters. Where a little fun was had by all.

The boys having a serious bug talk....

And also where my momma bear instincts came a roaring. I am not a person to be messed with when I see a parent letting their VERY SMALL child ride a dirt bike wearing only an itty bitty bicycle helmet up and down a back lane that has blind turns in it. Just sayin. There are proper places and equipment!!! Anyways... I made a hasty retreat back to my house thouroughly shaken and hoping my my sister wasn't upset at my very immediate response to what I was saying. I have no filter when momma bear in me comes out!!!!!

Phew. HUGE day. So ready for bed. So proud of my boy :) And my nephew scored a goal!!!! Good times :)

365 day 157 here today gone tomorrow | Calgary children's photographer

And the snow is gone. The wind is still hanging around a little... but totally tolerable!
By the end of the day it was warm enough that I could take the kids out front to play with the chalk and just let them hang out.

Question: what brand and where are the best girls tights? Kadence goes through almost a pair every time she puts them on. Totally sick of it!!!!

Spring is definately starting to show up!!!!

365 day 156 holy WIND batman | Calgary photographer

I wanted so badly to get out and take pics SHOWING how bad the wind was. Once I finally had the courage to frag my kids outside though... I quickly realized that I had the wrong lens on. I just had no way to get the shutter speed slow enough as the highest app is 16. So then I tried to catch when the trees were all bending over from the wind... but once the wind got that strong I could barely stand still!!! My  hood was being whipped in my face and the camera strap would be all over the place... it was a sad attempt.
The wind was SO STRONG... it was hard to believe. I actually grabbed Kade at one point when I honestly thought she was going to be blown over.

Cars were left abandoned.....slides were blown over.....

Shopping carts were tossed around like toys..... strollers sat empty.

Our poor tree.... it looks Charlie Brownish enough (it does seem to be making a comeback this year - we totally thought it was a goner), but with the wind I thought the top was going to snap off!

WOW - after posting this pic I noticed some of our shingles are MISSING!!!!! EEEEEEEK!!! So I came back and added the zoom in. OH D will NOT be happy.

Seriously... how do the crows fly around and manage to sat on the branches? They sure were making a racket out there though.
After a day of snow, and a day of insane winds it was sure nice to see a beautiful sunrise today!!!

365 day 155 what DID the school send home? | Calgary photographer

So the other day Rohan came home with a cup, some dirt, and he told me 3 seeds of some sort.
OK - let's see what happens. Well it has only been a few days... and now I pose the question... really what kind of seeds are in here?

I told Ro to ask his teacher today and he said she told him she didn't know lol.

So I guess we'll keep watering and putting it in the sun. Maybe Ro had told them how he had dug up a hole in the backyard and we needed new GRASS hahahaha.

I would show you the hole where we could plant this new grass..... but oh wait it's covered in.....

Yep... another blizzard like day here. So wet out my feet were soaked in seconds... the snow was so wet and heavy the car would be covered in slush in seconds. Crazy out there.... let's hope it helps out our water issues here!!!

365 day 154..... I wonder where this road goes | Calgary photographer

Seriously. I want to know where it goes. If it is someone's or if it is even used anymore.
I found it out driving today and could barely contain my excitement. If my kids had not been sleeping in the car I so would have made them be little models in this place. It will be so perfect and pretty in the summer and fall!!!!

I love it! Love it. So does anyone know how I find out?? It's not really somewhere I want to drive my car just to *see* and I am too much of a chicken to go walking down it alone lol.

What I saw on the way home. Too funny... had to stop for the geese to cross lol.

365 day 153 the perfect morning | Calgary photographer

Finally some water droplet action!! OK all some of them are still half frozen and there was a slight bit of frost.... but this morning colors were gorgeous and I had some fun outside! I started out with my 28-75 as is is a macro, but throught I'd try my poor man's with my 50 and quickly ditched all the shots I had taken before. STILL DROOLING over macro lenses over here!!!!!!!!!!!

But everything was just perfect out this morning so I needed to share :)

a lil frost on my lilac bush!!!! Those are lilacs in the wahoooo!

And here is what happens when you send your daughter who has been tired and grouchy all day to time out in her room for dumping out half of the new bath soap. Seriously... the crying stopped after a few minutes, I finished putting Ro's laundry away and went to her room to put hers away and found......

OUT cold! Too bad it was almost supper time and I had to wake her up... only to listen to more crying because she just woke up!!!!!
